Democrats can win with Hillary, but only if Republicans No 2 is Condoleezza Rice.
Ditto for John Kerry.
They stand a better chance with Al Gore if he can win his home state of Tennessee or New Hampshire this time around.
John Edwards stands the best chance of winning N. Carolina (his home state) Georgia, New Mexico and Iowa, while holding onto New Hampshire.
The Republicans have a lock on Florida and Ohio because they can cheat again in both. Absolutely nothing has been done to stop it!
Whatever candidate the Democrats select, he or she must win 1 southern state or hold onto New Hampshire while regaining Iowa and New Mexico.
The Republicans are not dumb enough to put Rice on the bottom of the ticket - too risky in too many southern states.
Edwards stands the best chance. No northerner will win a single southern state without Rice on the Republican ticket. It has to be a southerner. Either Edwards or Gore – not Hillary Clinton, unless she can win Arkansas. That’s Hillary’s only chance. She must win Arkansas (6 Electoral Votes). But the Clintons are New Yorkers now!

Yes, we’re talking two things 1) race and 2) electoral votes. Popular vote does not matter. Gore proved that in 2000. He had a plurality of 3,000,000 votes nationally, but could not win Tennessee or New Hampshire and lost the election. Yes, Bush stole Florida because Jeb Bush is the governor.
The primary voting issue in the south is NOT abortion. It is NOT homosexual marriage. It’s R-A-C-E. Southerners would sooner elect Jim McGreevey President, New Jersey’s former Democratic Governor and a homosexual, than elect Condoleezza Rice Vice President, a staunch Republican and a Black woman. Southerners like to pretend it’s all about same-sex marriage and abortion to feel better about themselves, but that’s a L-I-E - IT’S ABOUT RACE, STUPID!
The south used to be solidly Democratic when abortion was not an issue and no acknowledged homosexual could get elected dogcatcher. They voted solidly Democratic because Abe Lincoln was a Republican. Kennedy - Johnson turned that around 180º. When Strom Thurmond and Jesse Helms switched from Democrat to Republican, they announced to all Dixiecrats that it was O.K. to vote for the party of Lincoln. To this day most southern states have a plurality of registered Democratic voters, many of whom now vote Republican all the time. They don’t change their registration because “granddaddy would roll over in his grave if they switched their party affiliation to the party of Lincoln.”
How do you think Cynthia McKinney, a Black female Democrat, lost the primary several years ago (she has since reclaimed her seat)? Georgia registered Democrats and Republicans voted in the Democratic primary for her opponent, a White Democratic female. Georgia permits crossover voting in primaries!

Any idiot can win on the Republican ticket in the south - even McCain or Giuliani. Giuliani is not an idiot. He’s a lot of bad things, but idiot is not one of them. Giuliani is a racist and a bigot. He would carry every southern state in spite of being for same-sex marriage and abortion rights. Republicans are fools if they don’t nominate Giuliani. He might actually win some Democratic stronghold states too like New Jersey. The reason they won’t nominate him is because he is a sonofabitch and uncontrollable. He’s more like Nixon than Reagan. Republicans nominate mediocre candidates with average intelligence, who can be controlled. Giuliani is out.
Dan Quayle would have won every southern state and probably become president but for that “potatoe”. He certainly could have garnered the Republican nomination. But he made such a joke of himself that he blew the nomination. He was just as dumb before he misspelled “potato”, but now everybody knew it. Most Americans didn’t know George W. Bush was just as dumb. So he, not Quayle, got the 2000 nomination.
Western, Midwestern or Mountain States vote Republican because of the specious issues of homosexuality and abortion – whether somebody else is a homosexual or has an abortion is none of their GD business: I’m talking to the Rapture-Right voters in Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, the Dakotas, Iowa and Missouri.
These fools in the Southeast, South, Mountain, Midwest & Northwest, who vote for issues that really don’t concern them, including the subjugation of Blacks, would rather vote their prejudices than their pocketbooks. These will be the backbone of America’s poverty in the 21st Century. If the Rich manage to pass the Fair Tax (National Sales Tax), these will be the poorest States. But they will still vote their prejudices. They vote for issues that are really none of their business and put not a single farthing in their pockets. These Fools! The Republicans have found a gold mine of Stupidity in these States.

Bush – Kerry 2004 Electoral College Map: Key States are N.H., Iowa & N.M. Kerry lost 2 States that Gore won (Iowa and New Mexico), but won New Hampshire. If Kerry holds onto Iowa and New Mexico, he wins with New Hampshire (in the Blue column in 2004). Again this applies even if you concede both Ohio and Florida.
