Tabacco combined the best of 2 different versions of this AP story into one cohesive Post. It appears some crucial editing was done to “sanitize” the original story by omitting important facts. Fear not! Tabacco reinstalled all the facts!
Industry makes effort on
health care costs
WASHINGTON, Mon May 11, 07:29 PM
President Barack Obama praised the health care industry's promise to cut $2 trillion in costs over 10 years, taking a sharply different course than President Bill Clinton did 16 years ago in an opening bid to overhaul the U.S. health system, but skeptical lawmakers questioned how much it really helps in coming up with a solution for the millions of uninsured.
Tabacco: I question it too. When politicians all agree, that means everybody is getting paid! That’s when you need to “read the fine print” when Big Biz, Big Politics & Big Media all give their “stamp of approval”! It matters not whether the president is George W. Bush or Barack Obama; a consensus is very, very dangerous to average Americans!
Obama is selling us out! I understand why. The Clintons failed because the Insurance Lobby spent million$ on propaganda to defeat Clinton efforts, thereby protecting their own FUTURE PROFITS! Americans are SUCKERS for well-placed & well-orchestrated PROPAGANDA & FEAR! That Propaganda works even better when the 4th Estate fails to do its job and inform us of the Truth. But then, who do you think owns the MSM!
It's "a watershed event in the long and elusive quest for health care reform", Obama said Monday at the White House with representatives of the insurance industry, doctors, hospitals, pharmaceutical companies and a top labor union at his side.
It was a gathering of strange bedfellows. More than a decade ago, then-President Bill Clinton and his wife, now-Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, designed a health care plan in secret, fought industry leaders over it and lost — setting back the Democratic Party's cause for years.
It was a noteworthy sight as leaders of the industry who have killed past attempts at overhauling health care stood behind the president with a proposal to curb their costs.
If Obama succeeds in lowering costs and increasing access to health care, the meeting will be remembered as pivotal. If not, it will be just another Washington photo-op.
Tabacco: Everything is now in place to pass “Universal Healthcare” this time around without the “Poison Pill” of “Single Payer”. Obama convinced the Insurance Industry that this was the “lesser of two evils” so far as they were concerned because “Single-Payer” would reduce the Insurance Industry to home & apartment insurance, auto coverage & salary continuance. The BIGGIE (Healthcare) would be lost forever with “Single-Payer”. The Insurance Monolith agreed and came on board. There is another way of looking at this deal: OBAMA SOLD US OUT!
If the Republican Party, the Insurance Industry & HMOs do not repeat that option as Tabacco just did when Republicans even criticize Obama’s smile, that means the Conspiracy is SET! “How is it possible”, ask yourself, “for all these groups to get together with Democrats & Republicans without collusion of the 1st Order?” The only possible answer is, “IT ISN’T POSSIBLE!”
The proposal, however, was short on specifics. And it appeared to do little to shift positions in Congress as lawmakers attempt to write legislation to implement Obama's goal of extending health care to some 50 million uninsured Americans.
The specifics, industry officials said, would come later.
Tabacco: Much later as when it’s too late to stop it! And the Insurance Industry will still be getting their 30-35% cut off the top!
Within moments of Obama's appearance with the industry leaders, lawmakers praised the effort but suggested it didn't go to the heart of the health care debate. Single-Payer vs. Insurance Industry manipulation and siphoning off Profits! Notice how the AP Article(s) themselves skirt the issue! They allude but do not mention.
Now answer this: Why do we need Insurance for Health Care? Jobs! That is the only logical reason. The rest is just Fear Propaganda!
If your answer is “Yes”, then my answer is SINGLE-PAYER, not Insurance Companies & HMOs!
Several lawmakers made clear that the industry proposal would do nothing to stave off the outcome health insurers and others are trying to avoid — a new government insurance plan that would be available to middle-income Americans.
Health insurers say such a plan
would drive them out of business.
THEY’RE REFERRING TO
“SINGLE-PAYER, FOLKS!
SINGLE-PAYER WILL DRIVE
THEM OUT OF THIS BUSINESS!
"This commitment to cost-cutting is a good-faith gesture by the health care industry, but it does not mitigate the need for a public plan option in the upcoming reform bill", said Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., a member of the Senate Finance Committee that's writing a health reform bill. CODE FOR SINGLE-PAYER!
The industry groups said they would slow the growth of health care costs by 1.5 percent a year by coordinating care, reducing administrative costs and focusing on quality, efficiency and standardization. Health care costs would still grow faster than the economy as a whole, but not as fast as they otherwise would.
The specifics, industry officials said, would come later.
Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., cautiously welcomed the industry's offer while saying, "I am not about to take the fox's word that the hen house is safe". He said the industry's promises need to be given the weight of law.
Tabacco: Yes indeed! Obviously Sen. Wyden has not forgotten the Economic Crisis of 2008 already. Promises, not enforced by Laws, are made to be broken – DEREGULATION sans the name!
Obama has spoken often of the exorbitant costs in the nation's health care system, but slowing the rate price increases doesn't translate directly to paying the estimated $1.5 trillion cost of covering the uninsured. Money saved by the private sector doesn't flow directly to the federal treasury.
The top Republican on the Senate Finance Committee, Chuck Grassley of Iowa, called the announcement a "move in the right direction", but said it would be more significant if the Congressional Budget Office, Washington's arbiter of what costs or saves money for the government, determined it saved money.
"When the White House and the industry put concrete proposals on paper and get a score from the Congressional Budget Office, then we'll know if the suggestions really achieve that kind of savings, and it'll be big news", Grassley said. "For health care budgeting purposes, CBO's word is the only one that counts".
Karen Ignagni, president of America's Health Insurance Plans, contended that the voluntary cost-containment effort would help lawmakers, who are aiming to craft health overhaul legislation by August.
"They need help from the stakeholder community on cost containment and what you're hearing from all of us is we intend to help and that I think is the story today", Ignagni said.
Tabacco: Karen Ignagni represents the Foxes’ point of view, not the hares’.
The groups who signed onto Monday's effort were the American Medical Association, America's Health Insurance Plans, the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America, the Service Employees International Union, the American Hospital Association and the Advanced Medical Technology Association.
Officials said they could bring costs down even while continuing to stay profitable — noting that if health care legislation passes they'd be able to tap into a huge pool of currently uninsured people.
Tabacco: As could the “SINGLE-PAYER” US GOVERNMENT ADMINISTRATION! Under Single-Payer the government, not the Insurance Companies or HMOs, would administrate Health Care. HMOs increase Profits when they DENY SERVICES. The federal government, as “SINGLE-PAYER” is not involved in the “Profit Game”!
We don’t need the Insurance Industry for Social Security; why do we need the Insurance Industry for Health Care? Answer: We don’t need Insurance Companies or HMOs! They have their claws into the system and will not let go to maintain their own Profits regardless of how their involvement increases costs and jeopardizes patients’ rights through ARBITRARY DENIALS!

Tabacco: I declined to publish this fact before, but now is the time to do so. Readership at this Blog is down by one-third since Tabacco began criticizing President Barack Obama. I am certain that a large part of that “missing readership” is Black. Blacks, who support Democrats generally and Obama wholeheartedly, do not want to hear or read that their “Messiah” has feet of clay. Blacks have begun staying away from here in droves because as Evillene, the Wicked Witch of the West, said in “The Wiz”, “Don’t nobody bring me no bad news!”
To hear Mabel King (Evillene) singing “No Bad News”, go here:

Incidentally, PWTs and Rapture-Right Christians avoided hearing “Bad News” about the Bush administration for 8 years. So that idiosyncrasy is not limited to Black folks.
Like Clarence Thomas, whom Blacks supported because he was Black and before Thomas’ BETRAYAL, Blacks’ faith in the 1st Black President is unshakeable. Even Tabacco would have voted “Not Guilty” in O. J.’s murder case! I have also supported Michael Jackson, mainly because he is also “almost” Black, but also because I do not believe Michael’s transgressions are “all that bad”!
To those Whites, who claim they cannot understand the concept of supporting members of one’s own ethnicity, I say, “How could Whites have supported so many White singers with no apparent talent!” The Fabulous Fabian had to record his only hit “I’m A Tiger” about 270 times so the technical people could pull out “acceptable” words and sentences in order to produce a complete record.
There are many other White singers, who cannot sing a lick, but have had long careers. I decline to mention them by name because most are good people with a history of good race relations with Black people. I give them a “pass” here, but you know who they are.
To this day when riding in a taxi or walking through a supermarket, I hear “cover recordings” of Black musicians by White wannabes that miss the mark entirely. In most cases the inferior White recordings were the “Hits”, particularly in the ‘50s and ‘60s.
Although the Black singing group also recorded it, Georgia Gibbs had the “Hit” of “Dance With Me, Henry”. They had to change the lyrics because in the 1950s it was politically incorrect to copy the Black group, Hank Ballard & The Midnighters, with titles such as “Sexy Ways” and “Annie Had A Baby”. Same tune, different lyrics!

Go to the URL above and listen to the Midnighters sing “Annie Had A Baby”. If you want to compare it with the Gibbs cover “Dance With Me, Henry”, you’ll have to find it for yourself!
Bo Derek could not act her way out of a paper bag, but her good looks took her as far as John Derek’s management could possibly do. To this day, Bo’s hairstyle (BRAIDS) in “10” has a multitude of Whites believing that Blacks co-opted the concept from her, not the other way around!
Tony Curtis, whose performance in “The Boston Strangler” is one of the very best and most believable on film, began in “The Prince Who Was A Thief” speaking in Brooklynese “..the castle of my fadder”. Curtis was attempting to say “father”, but it came out on film no less as “fadder”! But being good-looking and White, Hollywood stuck with him until he learned to speak English.
Racial and Ethnic Pride is alive and well in America, even if it is often misplaced on unworthy representatives.
Tabacco: I consider myself both a funnel and a filter. I funnel information, not readily available on the Mass Media, which is ignored and/or suppressed. I filter out the irrelevancies and trivialities to save both the time and effort of my Readers and bring consternation to the enemies of Truth & Fairness! When you read Tabacco, if you don’t learn something NEW, I’ve wasted your time.

Good post, Tabacco! There is a real backlash for any criticism of President
Obama. Like me, you judge President Obama issue by issue. On some issues he
is doing good and on some issues he is doing bad. We just call 'em like we
see 'em but there are many "Obama worshippers" that can see no wrong when
it comes to Barack Obama. Keep telling the truth as you see it, Tabacco!
