New Club Formed To
Solve All America’s
Problems:
PRC – Poor
Republicans Club
Originally published January 3, 2006
There is a very interesting and curious phenomenon in America. There are poor people and middleclass Americans, who think of themselves as Republican.
They vote Republican, discriminate as Republican, worship as Republican, pontificate as Republican, act as Republican, and bank as Democrats. What in hell is going on here? Who has deluded, hoodwinked, hoaxed, duped, bamboozled, victimized and rendered these folk blithering idiots?
If you root for the Yankees, never for one minute think that your bank account is commingled with that of Alex Rodriguez.
If you root for the NFL Giants, never for one minute think that your bank account is commingled with that of Eli Manning.
And if you root for Donald Trump, never for one instant think that your bank account is commingled with that of the Donald or that your residence is Trump Towers. If you do think that, you are not suffering from cognitive dissonance; it’s worse than that – you are psychotic.
Some poor ignoramus from a chat room just commented on this blog as follows:
“As an often poor man, I'm in favor of allowing the rich to keep more of what they get, BECAUSE they don't usually buy diapers. It means they usually have to shelter it, and put lots of it into non-profits and venture capital, where they are "giving" it to the poor saps like me who want to get rich.”
Have you ever heard anything so pathetic?
I think I have found the answer. You know the Biblical passage that goes,
And do you know how poor white trash now and during slavery and post-Civil War days, looked down on Negroes as inferior?
And do you know how poor Evangelicals look down on homosexuals – even rich ones, because they themselves practice heterosexuality?
And do you know how poor Christian Americans look down on Muslims, people wearing turbans, people with slanted eyes, men with long beards who never shave, really short people, people who bow and bow instead of shaking hands, and people who don’t wear clothes even though they live in eternally hot climates?
Well, put all these bits of trivia together and you have the answer. Poor people have to look down on someone. Nobody wants to be the bottom rung in the social ladder.
Rich Caucasians are wise enough to realize that a Black NBA superstar with $$$ beats a poor Southern cracker, with not even a mule and 40 acres, any day! But that poor Southern cracker doesn’t think so. He thinks he’s better than any Black, with or without a 5-year $60,000,000.00 contract.
The problem is this: Rich Caucasians belong to the Harvard Club, Skull & Crossbones, the AMA or some other hoighty toity club. The poor Caucasians, who vote Republican and daily have to deal with that disparity between themselves and the Donald Trumps of America, don’t have a Club.
I am therefore initiating a club for those downtrodden types:
I considered allowing poor Black Republicans to apply for membership; but that would sort of defeat the purpose, wouldn’t it? No slight is intended however. You can always apply for membership in the NAACP or the Log Cabin Republicans. Both of those groups will accept anybody.
Once poor Republicans have their own club, they will not have to be bigots anymore. They won’t have to find some minority to look down on. America will truly become a melting pot. And poor Republicans will have as much self-respect as poor European nobility.
You see, folks, all they really needed was a Club of their own. Now they can vote Democratic and in their own best economic interests. Now they won’t have to vote against Blacks anymore. They won't have to vote against gays anymore. They won't have to vote against Pro Choice anymore. The rich will continue to vote Republican. And the rest of us will vote Democratic – non-rich Evangelicals, non-rich Pro Lifers, non-rich Log Cabin Republicans even. From now on the world will make sense.
And all they needed was their own Club.
All those poor Republicans may apply for membership at:

There is a film precedent for the behavior of poor Republicans, though I doubt it has ever happened in real life.
"Heaven hath no rage like love to hatred turned." This John Milton quote appears at the beginning of Rage in Heaven (1941) and sets the tone for the film noir-like thriller starring Ingrid Bergman, Robert Montgomery and George Sanders shot in moody black and white by cinematographer Oliver T. Marsh. Bergman plays Stella, a woman, who unknowingly marries psychopath Philip (Robert Montgomery) who is insanely envious of his best friend Ward, played by George Sanders. The dark themes of envy, obsession and paranoia slowly build throughout the film as Stella realizes her dire predicament.
The male leads, Robert Montgomery and George Sanders, intriguingly play against type in Rage in Heaven. Montgomery usually portrayed likeable characters, and Sanders usually played unscrupulous cads.

Tabacco: Strangely enough, the film was shown at 2:15AM this morning, January 3, 2006, on TCM. We missed it this time around. It will be shown again.

To shorten the review, Montgomery commits suicide in the attempt to have his murder blamed on Sanders. Sanders is tried for murder and convicted, but everything turns out OK in the end. (I won’t spoil it in case you haven’t seen the picture).
As to how this applies to our Poor Republicans: they (as Montgomery) are willing to commit suicide (of an economic nature) to ruin Blacks, gays & Pro-Choice advocates (as Sanders). I suppose there is some sort of heroism in that, but it seems a lot more like psychosis – cutting your own throat to hurt others. But then again, being a Poor Republican doesn’t make any sense anyway, now does it?
Tabacco: I consider myself both a funnel and a filter. I funnel information, not readily available on the Mass Media, which is ignored and/or suppressed. I filter out the irrelevancies and trivialities to save both the time and effort of my Readers and bring consternation to the enemies of Truth & Fairness! When you read Tabacco, if you don’t learn something NEW, I’ve wasted your time.
