USA must increase Tariffs on imported products such as automobiles, electronics, clothing and foodstuffs, which are grown domestically. The Reason is to give American products a “Fair Chance” in America! I’m not talking about Exports! I would rather “sacrifice” Exporters than sacrifice American workers, American manufacturers and the American Economy. Free Trade Agreements, Globalization & Outsourcing sacrifice American workers, American manufacturers and the American Economy to “preserve” American Exports. That is a horrendous deal for America!
There will be no Tariffs on coffee and cocoa products from countries, which handle produce not grown in America. California, Florida and Hawaii should not be compelled to “compete” in a homogeneous world with countries, which have lower standards including a lower wage scale. Certain varieties of oranges, which are not grown in America, would remain duty-free.
Opponents to this plan will use the derogatory term “Protectionist”. Let them! I do not care what they call me! I want them to explain how losing America’s domestic auto industry to cheap foreign models, based on cheaper costs abroad, is going to help working-class Americans. They cannot! They can only invoke the term “Protectionism”, and, while not explaining its specifics, they wait for Americans to agree on “prejudices” to that term, which are the product of decades of propaganda and negative press, not logical thinking.
Allow me to explain by example what the world is going to look like in 20 years if Globalization, Outsourcing and “Free Trade” in their present forms continue.
There will be no telecommunication service people in America because all those jobs will be relocated abroad. Most have been outsourced already.
All American banks will be just like mine (HSBC = Hong Kong Shanghai Banking Corporation) - foreign owned! You can still get a teller’s job here, if you want prestige. Those jobs have never paid very much. Today, tellers don’t make nearly as much as carpenters, plumbers or locksmiths.
Although the raw materials may come from abroad, only undereducated, young Americans will work at Burger King, IHOP, McDonalds & Wendys unless we permit “them” to achieve “Comprehensive Immigration”. In that case, Americans won’t even have those jobs unless they agree to sub-minimum wages and no benefits they way Illegals do now. That means the end of the “Minimum Wage”, “Medicare”, “Social Security” and a national “Right-to-Work” law.
Labor Unions will be extinct, either through legislation and/or lack of feasibility.
American farming will cease because we cannot compete with cheap foreign sources. Today, most of our produce, in the largest supermarket chains, comes from abroad. That’s why they resist labeling produce with “country of origin”. Remember the 2008 “tomato” problem that emanated from Mexico, although I’m still not sure whether it was tomatoes or broccoli. Bush didn’t want us to know lest we found the source was Mexico. Tabacco knew it came from Mexico almost from the beginning. And I knew why the FDA couldn’t even figure out the actual product that was causing the problem.
All toys and games will be manufactured in China because of cheaper costs there as opposed to manufacturing in the USA. When products are defective, poisonous or deadly, we will have no option except “doing without” because no toys and games will be “product of USA”.
College students, who paid $200,000 for their educations, will have to relocate to India or Iraq to find brain-intensive jobs at $20,000 annual salaries. Why? Because, other than top Execs, all upper level and middle level personnel will be foreigners in foreign countries. All office personnel will be located in foreign countries with the possible exception of some sales and service people, who give direct contact service. You can’t do that if you are based in India.
Carpenters, hair dressers, barbers, plumbers, electricians, contractors, landscapers, heating workers, locksmiths etc. will have jobs here because those functions cannot be done from abroad. However, their incomes will be halved because of the competition for those jobs. And, of course, those businesses will make much less than they do today - again, I refer to the glut of competing businesses. Blacks need not apply!
Real Estate sales personnel will be located stateside, but all the Internet services will be handled from abroad.
Teachers in classrooms, except for Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd and possibly 3rd grade, will all be done via computer from foreign countries. This type of classroom already exists.
College professors can relocate immediately abroad and bypass “Go” because no colleges will exist, let alone have human beings in classrooms. If you do not have Internet access, you cannot get formal education in 2029 except to grade 3.
Even labor, which requires formal training, will be done over the Internet once you pay the fee to audit the course.
The good news is, should you actually own your own home, you will be able to grow produce in your private garden and eat that produce yourself. Forget selling it because you cannot compete with supermarket prices on foreign-grown produce.
You may also be able to have your own private fish farm, but beef is out of the question. Do you have the facilities to raise cattle if you live in New York State or Michigan?
The good news is this: Policemen will be the big money-earners by the middle of the 21st century. Undereducated, underclass people need not apply. These guys will have the job of maintaining order and protecting the Rich - so you know they will not skimp on quality here.
Oh, you thought America would be devoid of Rich people? SILLY YOU!
Now on this new Globalized planet, do you think India’s salary and wage scale will rise to meet America’s, or do you think America’s salary and wage scale will fall to meet India’s? Just thought I’d ask!
Despite all the ongoing Propaganda to the contrary, Protectionism is NOT a 4-LETTER WORD! But it is a word Have-Mores do not want to hear! That alone should be enough to convince you that it cannot be “all bad”! When they say “Protectionism” is bad, they neglect to say for whom – HAVE-MORES & BIG CAPITALISM! For average Americans, Protectionism would be a GOD-SEND!

When I looked up “Globalization”, my intention was merely to “instruct”. (Not all my Readers are as smart as you!) But I must admit, I did anticipate getting a shorter version of “Protectionism” than I got for the former. I was not disappointed. Even I did not predict a definition this short from the very same source. This is how America works. 100-line definitions are reserved for things they want you to know, and 3-line definitions are reserved for things they DON’T want you to know. The preponderance of words or lack thereof is proof of corporate America’s prejudices and public manipulations.
I would really like to go back to “investorwords” and see what they say about “Israeli Nukes” – but I shall resist!
