The Leadership of the Democratic Party (can you say Howard Dean) issued ultimatum re early Primary States. The GOP (can you say Karl Rove) figured out how to manipulate Democrats into offending Florida’s voters and then got an added bonus when Michigan Democratic leaders followed the same violation process without GOP control of the State – how cooperative of the Democratic brain-trust!
The DNC allowed 4, and only 4 States, to have their Primaries prior to Super Tuesday. Those 4 did not include either Florida or Michigan.
Michigan Democrats wanted to vote earlier, influencing the final result more. So they ignored Howard Dean and held their primary early. Now their votes are Void – at least at the present time. You know Michiganders will love that! Oh by the way, only Hillary Clinton left her name on the ballot in Michigan among the 1st tier candidates. Naturally she won! If her electors are now admitted, just imagine how Obama’s supporters and Obama will respond! A revote is possible, but the DNC will have to finance it, not the Michigan voters.
The Florida situation is different. The GOP controls Florida! They got together with Karl Rove, no doubt, and decided that holding their primary early would hurt the Democrats, who threaten seriously in Florida. In Florida, Democrats did not have the weapons with which to cut their own throats. So the GOP supplied the needed assistance. This primary date was a throw-in with another bill Democrats wanted: voting reform or something. Democrats attempted to remove the early voting date but failed. So a GOP initiative caused the DNC to disenfranchise Florida Democratic voters. Somehow it doesn’t seem fair to take advantage of mentally disadvantaged Democrats! Oh yes; Hillary Clinton was the only 1st tier Democrat to leave her name on the ballot. Guess who won!

Christopher Reeve, playing Lewis, a US diplomat in 1993’s “Remains Of The Day”, uttered a very prophetic and scathing comment to the European leaders, who were negotiating with the German Nazis prior to WWII:

by gentlemen amateurs. Do you have any
idea of what sort of place the world is
becoming all around you? The days, when
you could just act out of your noble
