In two words: Assumption, Laziness!
I knew, when I published the Posts about Obama’s 4th Political Sin, that SINGLE-PAYER was best for America. So anything else had to be because of the Insurance Lobby. On this I was correct. However, I ascribed the “FAULT” to President Obama without investigating exactly what his proposal was. Some of that “fault” is Obama’s, but the overwhelming responsibility and fault is Tabacco’s.
Because I was and am positive about the utter superiority of SINGLE-PAYER over any alternative, I did not bother to even investigate Obama’s “guidelines”. Obviously I could not look up the actual legislation since it has not yet been written. But, by not doing my ‘homework’, Tabacco missed a very important “boat”!
I assumed that if Obama were ignoring Single-Payer, he must be doing it for a “pay-off”. Since that was not the only possibility, I was being intellectually lazy as well as making an unfounded assumption.
I’d like to promise that won’t happen again, but jumping the gun and taking shortcuts are as common to me as to most others. Laziness is one of my primary “sins”. So I can only promise to “try”. But I do promise that if I make a mistake, I will admit it as quickly and as forthrightly as possible. Mea culpa!
There is a reason why Mr. Obama has declined to mention SINGLE-PAYER and proposes to keep the Insurance Industry and their front-men, HMOs, taking their 30%+ share of our Health Care funds. That reason is because if there were a Public Demand for SINGLE-PAYER, nothing would get passed at all. There would be enough OPPOSITION to defeat any proposal. The Public is too under-educated and too over-propagandized to vote for its own good! As it is, the current Obama proposal may not make it past the House of Representatives. But unlike Tabacco, these Opponents knew why Obama’s lack of Transparency was necessary.
Tabacco hereby amends his “5 Political Sins Of Obama” to “4 Political Sins Of Obama”. Let’s all hope I do not have to publish another Apology and Retraction!

Tabacco’s Apology: If Obama cannot pass UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE with a “Public Option”, I know that Single-Payer stands no chance at all. Why? Because the Public has been so propagandized by Insurance Industry. That’s why the Clintons failed!
The union of Democracy & Capitalism is FATAL to ethics, morality, fairness and the General Public. Without the ethical pronouncements of TV’s Talking Heads, Americans are no more than willing dupes for Big Biz Propaganda. And the MSM is owned lock-stock & barrel by Big Biz just as the entire “democratic” Political System and its players are.
I think it happened in Louisiana. A couple of years ago, a Republican - that’s right, Republican - Governor backed legislation to help Blacks & poor Whites because of Katrina. But state Big Biz propagandized, lied and convinced poor Blacks & poor Whites that the legislation would be to their detriment - it failed!
Tabacco has stated that when Republicans back something, usually it’s bad. And that’s true! But there are exceptions. Not many, but some! That’s why each proposal must be analyzed on its own merits. Americans can no longer count on the MSM to guide us. There are marvelous media leaders, who tell the Truth - Bill Moyers, Amy Goodman & Greg Palast, to name 3. But you will not hear those voices of reason on Mainstream TV. Since most people have Cable, not Satellite, they will never see these 3 or any other reputable analysts.
CNN’s Lou Dobbs is what passes for “Independent” in America. Lou is often on target on his opinionated show. That is the problem! But you cannot trust him because he is a diehard Republican (Economic Issues are the ones that count!), who pretends to be “Independent” always. I want Mr. Dobbs to name the Democratic candidates for President that he actually voted for! Go ahead, Lou, make my day! Lou’s partiality has gotten so bad that I turn him off quicker than the obvious GOPers on Fox. I get damned mad just watching him pontificate to those poor suckers, who believe Lou’s SELF-PROMOTION! I won’t enumerate Lou’s good and bad issues here because this Post is not about Lou Dobbs. I will only state that you have to be really knowledgeable if you watch that Pariah on a regular basis. Lou is a SNAKE, who pets his sheep before swallowing them whole!
News in America has a highly Disaster-Capitalist leaning! That generally means GOP. When Democratic presidents behave like GOPers, they are not dumped on so severely. Bill Clinton presided like a moderate Republican. Barack Obama acts like Bill Clinton. If Big Biz perceives a Democratic candidate “won’t play ball”, that candidate will never even get the Democratic nomination.
The Truth is that Obama was not only the “lesser of two evils” for most Americans, he was the necessary PACIFIER for America after 8 years of that Pariah, George W. Bush. Hell, even Reverend Al Sharpton could have beaten John McCain in an EVM-less 2008 election. So Big Biz gave us Barack Obama to soothe us and prevent real turmoil for themselves such as, say DENNIS KUCINICH!
So I therefore lower my head in abject shame and apologize to Barack Obama, who is doing the best he could on the Health Care issue. He has convinced the Insurance Industry to permit the “Public Option” or risk the Public finding out about and demanding “Single-Payer”! For that we are indebted to Mr. Obama. The Clintons wanted more for us, but the Propaganda was too strong for Americans to see the Truth. After all, just look at what Bush gave America and palmed off as “Health Care”!

So, Tabacco blew it this time. SINGLE-PAYER would be the ideal “Option”. On that I am absolutely, positively and unequivocally correct! But since that is not possible, Obama is attempting to achieve the next best thing. And even that may not pass because of the “BLUE DOG COALITION” of mainly Democrats. Allow me to inform you who these “Blue Dogs” are. We need to know who supports and who opposes all Issues. This invariably signifies what their motives are.

Are these “Blue Dogs” the type of people you want to stop Obama’s Health Care plan? Not all Democrats are created equal. Dianne Feinstein is a Democrat. She rarely supports her own constituents. Joe Lieberman is an “Independent”, much like Lou Dobbs. He rarely supports his own constituents. Neither is listed as a “Blue Dog”, but I mention them because I am familiar with their bad voting histories.
Tabacco offers no EXCUSE for his ERROR, merely an explanation! I will however not utter nor publish that meaningless “I take full responsibility for my actions” falsity. I will not insult my Readers with that toothless remark. Tabacco was wrong! I was wrong! Again, my Apologies to President Obama!
However, I shall continue to publish the Truth, the Whole Truth and Nothing But The Truth, regardless of whom it may hurt – including myself!
However, I shall attempt to be more careful re this very clever President. I am afraid I underestimated him in addition to my other oversights.
