7-Point Plan To

TAKE BACK

AMERICA -

All 7 Points Are

Necessary &

Sufficient - RI10

Originally published May 28, 2006... republished March 31, 2009 (H: 457, C: 4)

The American Government belongs to the Rich & Powerful Lock, Stock & Barrel.  Both Republicans and Democrats are inextricably tied by the Apron Strings of the “Have Mores”.  The System, not just the Enablers, needs to be changed.  Removing Republicans from Power in the Senate and House of Representatives in November 2006 would be a Great Start.  Removing the Republicans from the Oval Office in November 2008 will be even better.

But if anyone thinks those actions would solve our problems, those Optimists have not only their heads in the clouds, but their brains in formaldehyde.  THE SYSTEM MUST BE FIXED!

It is the System, more than the elected politicos, which create the “Ever-Widening Disparity” between the Rich and the people.  It is the System, which permits George W. Bush to pursue a “War Of Choice” for the “War Profiteers” and “Oil Magnates”.  It is the System, which permits Congress to remove the Neutrality from the Internet and our right to information therein to placate Telecom Big Business and the Right-Wing.  It is the System, which permits Oil Magnates to gouge the public and “Play Games” with oil prices, while the President does nothing except give “Lip-Service” to the problem.  It is the System, which permits Congress to pursue a homophobic policy of “Defense of Marriage Act” when really important issues

SCREAM FOR

ATTENTION!

If you are satisfied with “The System” as is and see no need to change it, you are either A) Filthy Rich or B) a MORON!

The Solutions are obvious and emanate from the Problems.

EVERY PROBLEM

CONTAINS

THE ESSENCE OF

ITS OWN SOLUTION!

Problem 1: The Wealthy

Control The Government

People Through Lobbying

Solution 1

Make all Lobbying (except those for humanitarian causes such as AARP, NAACP, children’s rights groups, anti-discrimination lobbies, environmental protection, etc.,) representing business concerns illegal and any contributions, whether financial or otherwise, the basis for criminal and punitive court actions and Presidential and/or Congressional Impeachment.

Money is NOT FREE SPEECH!

Problem 2: The Wealthy

Control The Government

Through National Elections,

Which Are Now Only Open

To Rich Candidates

Solution 2

Public Financing of ALL NATIONAL ELECTIONS (Presidential & Congressional).  No candidate may finance his or her own campaign.

See prior Article:
Capitalism or Socialism? Or Both! Neither One, By Itself, Can Succeed! UPDATED
http://tabacco.blog-city.com/capitalism_or_socialism__or_both__neither_one_by_itself_can_.htm

Problem 3: Gerrymandering

Insures The Reelection Of

House Of Representatives’

Incumbents

Solution 3

All State Gerrymandering must be done by an Independent National Watchdog Agency, not subject to political control or oversight.

See prior Article:
GERRYMANDERING From A To Z: How Politicians Ensure Their Own Re-Election- RI10
http://tabacco.blog-city.com/gerrymandering_from_a_to_z_how_politicians_ensure_their_own_.htm

Problem 4: The Government

Can Remove Debate &

Discussion From The Public’s

View In Non-National Security

Matters To Pass Unpopular

And Hurtful Legislation

Without Our

Knowledge Or Consent

Solution 4

Every Vote, (C-Span already televises irrelevant Procedural Matters) must be televised and publicly tabulated, both on-screen and via the Internet.  No Voice Votes on Any Motion, Act or Legislation.

Problem 5: Presidential

Debates Are A Scam,

Which Allow Candidates To

Avoid Answering

Incisive Questions &

Responding To Critical

Issues; The Media

Questioners Are Too

“Vanilla”, Worry About

Future Access To The

President, & Do Not Follow Up

Re Time Restrictions

Solution 5

Presidential Debates must be controlled by the same Independent National Watchdog Agency in Solution 3. Candidates must answer all questions directly, without propaganda or repetition of “Talking Points”, not relevant to the exact question. Some of the questioners must represent the people, opposition Parties, and reputable Humanitarian entities.  The Format must be loosened to permit direct confrontation among Candidates. Candidates from all Parties, which secure a prescribed number of signatures, must be allowed to participate.  The voters can decide whose opinions and comments are relevant and worthy.  No list of questions to be asked is permissible.  Candidates must be able to “Think On Their Feet”!

Problem 5A: Bush Has Turned

The Presidential Press

Conference Into A Joke –

A Political Propaganda Event

Solution 5A

The same Independent National Watchdog Agency will control all Q&A at Presidential Press Conferences, including the granting of Press Credentials, the order of Press members to ask questions.  The President may request a Press Conference at any time, but a minimum of 1 per month is required.

Problem 6: The Republican

 Party Has Packed
The Supreme Court With

Judges, Who Represent Only

A Small Sector Of American

Political Thought: Right-Wing

Conservatives Or NeoCons

Solution 6

Supreme Court appointees must be removed from the Political shenanigans of the President and Congress as much as possible.  Their nominations must come from the American Bar Association, not the President.  The Separation of Powers philosophy is violated by that procedure.  A Supreme Court Justice’s appointment must be consented by a 2/3 majority of the House of Representatives.

Problem 7: Elected Politicians

Are Robbing Us Blind, Passing

Legislation For Few & The

Privileged, Making Their

Primary Concern Their

Own Reelection Campaign &

Personal Graft,

Not The Public Good

Solution 7

The salaries of the President, Vice President & both Houses of Congress must be raised drastically.  CEOs, Board Members & Upper Echelon Executives of Major Corporations make $-millions in the Private Sector.  It is sheer folly for us to assume that our representatives in Washington will do an “honest” job for America at 5-cents on the dollar while their Private Sector counterparts get rich.

Penny-Wise &

Pound-Foolish!

We must make their salaries worthwhile and commensurate with the salaries obtainable in the Private Sector.  To do otherwise is to invite POLITICAL MALFEASANCE.  The President of the United States, if Impeached, stands to lose $400,000 per annum.  To a man like George W. Bush, that is CHICKEN FEED or CIGARETTE CHANGE! Take your pick.

The question is not why George W. Bush and his Comrades are picking our pockets; the question is why didn’t such a President appear much sooner in our history.  It was only a matter of time.

Remember, these guys may be thieves, but they are NOT FOOLS!  They know what they can make in the Private Sector.  So if they prefer to stay in Government, THEY MUST KNOW SOMETHING!

I fear that the old adage is very true:

YOU GET WHAT YOU

PAY FOR!

Current Salary Structure

President: $400,000 per year
Vice President: $186,300 per year
Senator/Congressman: $158,103 per year
Senate/House Majority/Minority Leaders (4): $175,600 per year

The Bush regime is the most Regressive, uncompassionate and greedy regime in American history.  But it had to happen.  If not Bush, then the next President would have broke open the Piggy Bank.  The American political and financial landscape demands it.  Lobbying, financial campaign contributions, gifts, war profiteering, privatization, Eminent Domain, and the proposed “FairTax” are just the most egregious in a litany of actions, effected or planned, intended to benefit the “Have Mores”, politically connected Big Biz, and the politicians in league with them at the expense of the rest of us.

We can NEVER TAKE BACK AMERICA (OUR COUNTRY) unless we adopt ALL SEVEN OF THESE PROPOSED CHANGES.

Do nothing, and rest assured that matters will only get W-O-R-S-E.  The “UnFairTax” is waiting in the Wings, America.  It’s your Call!

Hey Chief: You couldn't be more on point if you wanted to. This was very well thought out. I agree with most, if not all of what you said. Good you left your blog address with your comment on my blog. More people need to see this.

They say, GREAT MINDS THINK ALIKE' ;)

Wow, you really thought this through. It took a while to get to the end, but I've gotta admit that you cover a lot of ground. Honestly, I don't see an of this happening in the next administration, but I appreciate you posting this, and of course, thanks to The Capt. for mentioning your site.

Tabacco:

I said it wouldn't be easy. But I have the beginnings of a Plan.

1- Get House of Representive Candidates to sign a pledge to support Public Financing of National Elections and support those, who do sign.

2- Though the Article was not concerned with Outsourcing, my Search is on to find 1 Telecom, which will sign a pledge "Not to Outsource"; then we publicize that Telecom and when biz starts falling off at AT&T, Verizon, Sprint etc., they will get on board. We only need 1 company to sign the pledge. Once biz falls off, just watch how fast they come back stateside. I have already heard rumblings that Offshore Outsourcing hasn't worked out all that well, especially financially. I'm not happy with the service myself on a personal level because dealing with foreign trained Service people is like communicating with a robot.

I can't do it by myself. But if the right organization signs on to my plan, it can be done - one step at a time.

Has outsourcing really benefited corporations? Wouldn't it be interesting if someone like the EU came up with a "living wage", had it in effect? I understand "under-developed" countries are eager to obtain capital and attract business, I think the US is going to have to relearn how to do this.

I have to say I have concern re: Iran/Iraq and now Central and South America, with Chavez winning support of other leaders. I don't know enough how his constituants really feel about him, only what I get from the news. And I'm curious to see how Fox/Mexico react re: Immigration reform.

Honestly, I don't know how you can get an organization behind you, as it seems it's only Republicans and Democrats, with a third party pretty far back in the minority, thinking of either Ralph Nadar or Ross Perot. I do wish you luck and will be following your posts.

Tabacco:

Try this on for size: In the rest of the world, anybody, who stands up to George W. Bush, is a hero. The USA is universally hated abroad. John Kerry was telling the truth when he said foreign leaders supported him, not George W. Kerry, of course, could not publicly name names. Bush knew that he couldn't and knew it was true; that's why he called Kerry on it. Kerry should never have said anything at all.

Immigration reform is NOT a done deal. It doesn't really serve Bush or Big Biz. They want underpaid & benefitless Illegals, not Shamnesty and Minimum Wage. Bush supports it publicly to gain Hispanic votes. But he really doesn't want it. If it doesn't look like the Senate bill or doesn't pass at all, or Bush vetoes, don't be surprised.

When I said "organization", I didn't mean political org. necessarily. A 3rd Party would be OK, but the AFL-CIO would be marvelous. I contacted them last year about Outsourcing - they never got back to me. A non-political organization with membership, not tied too strongly to Democrats, would be ideal. I want to apply consumer and voter pressure. No political action takes place in America without some sort of pressure. That's why they have lobbies.

President's new Treasury Secretary leaves $38 Million per annum at Goldman Sachs to earn $175,000 for government.

You know something "Fishy" is going on here. He doesn't need the money, but have you EVER SEEN A RICH MAN, WHO HAD ENOUGH? He will make that $38 Million per annum+. You can count on that. That's why we MUST DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE SYSTEM.

As you know, I'm an Executive Recruiter. I recently worked on a recruitment at $70,000 per annum. The company would not even interview a candidate, who had earned over $90,000.

Now you tell me that Henry Paulsen, the Heir Apparent, would take a cut in pay like that without seeing a Rainbow at the End of the Tunnel.

These birds are robbing America BLIND. When will you WAKE UP! T-H-I-N-K! R-E-A-S-O-N!

If you wait for proof, it will be too late!

George W. Bush got away with Abominations for 8 years because we didn't pay close enough attention. When we did, he just disregarded public opinion and gave us more "FEAR" and 9/11/01 as justification for everything. When we asked questions, he said, "Sorry, but that is privileged information" or "We don't want the enemy to know that too, now do we!" We were suckered!

Obama is a "nice guy". That was the idea! Now we are letting Obama get away with MURDER because he's a nice guy, McCain like Bush was an SOB, and this Democrat is better than anything the GOP had to offer.

WRONG PHILOSOPHY! Democrats can be controlled and will listen if defied emphatically. Obama is NO GEORGE W. BUSH! We must not let Obama get away with the same ABOMINATIONS that Bush did simply because we "like Obama". That's silly!

If your wife or husband wanted to drown the baby or grandbaby, would you permit it just because you love that old "critter"? No! Of course not! Then why would you let Obama get away with the same crap you would rant and rave about if Bush did it!

Get up off your FAT TUSH and write, email, picket, march, telephone, make a pest of yourself to congress and the White House. That Freebie, aka Wall Street Bailout, was an $800 Billion GIFT to Have-Mores. Nobody said much of anything. Why? Because we like and "trust" Obama? Like him, yes! Trust him? As far as you would trust the "good cop" when you don't trust the "bad cop". We are being gamed!

You assume that if we get a choice between a Republican and a Democrat, one of them must be on OUR SIDE! W-R-O-N-G! W-R-O-N-G! W-R-O-N-G! W-R-O-N-G! W-R-O-N-G! W-R-O-N-G! W-R-O-N-G! W-R-O-N-G! W-R-O-N-G! W-R-O-N-G! W-R-O-N-G! W-R-O-N-G! W-R-O-N-G! W-R-O-N-G! W-R-O-N-G! W-R-O-N-G! W-R-O-N-G! W-R-O-N-G! W-R-O-N-G! W-R-O-N-G! W-R-O-N-G! W-R-O-N-G! W-R-O-N-G! W-R-O-N-G! W-R-O-N-G! W-R-O-N-G! W-R-O-N-G! W-R-O-N-G! W-R-O-N-G! W-R-O-N-G! W-R-O-N-G! W-R-O-N-G! W-R-O-N-G!

Have I made my point!

What a very lazy prescription for what ails America that has no chance of happening, here is a much better way to go: 1) Eliminate all campaign contributions except those by individuals who are US citizens and allow them to contribute whatever they want with full disclosure being mandated. This is in line with the first amendment and eliminates all argument about what groups are good or bad. 2) Anybody can lobby but no lobbyist can give gifts, perks, campaign for, or have served in the government in the previous or following five years. Your solution #1 is unconstitutional but if you can amend the Constitution go ahead. 3) Eliminate all Federal taxation except for a National Sales Tax with an initial stipend to anyone below the poverty to make up for the increased cost of their goods. This will increase tax revenues by $500B by taxing the "underground" economy and foreign tourists who today pay no tax, save $500B by eliminating the IRS, and save $500B in annual compliance / tax planning costs throughout the economy. The end result will be an explosion in job growth as companies relocate to the USA due to no corporate income tax, increased savings and investment will result in sustainable economic growth, and most importantly get taxation out of the hands of politicians of all stripes. 4) Your solution number 3 is in direct violation of the Constitution and tramples the intent of the Founding fathers in a limited Federal government. Anything in the Federal government is going to be subject to politics by definition. Who picks the Watch Dogs ? Who watches the Watch Dogs ? A much better solution would be term limits- 6 terms in the House and 2 terms in the Senate. The benefits are self evident. 5) I actually agree with your solution #5, but I would go even further as the Federal bureaucracy has been depriving citizens of their liberty and rights without even getting elected. I would sunset all Federal agencies so that they would have to justify their existence periodically. I would also eliminate all Government unions as the public servants are supposed to serve the government not their union bosses. I would then introduce a performance based compensation system that actually encouraged and rewarded Public servants to serve their bosses the US taxpayer. 6) I agree with the problem of unproductive Presidential debates however I think your solution can be streamlined to the following; just let the candidates actually ask questions of and debate the other with the Parliamentarian of the House as a neutral moderator who just enforces the rules of debate without being allowed to ask questions. 7) Surprisingly Obama has already made a joke of the Presidential press conference already also by relying on technology to produce his answers. I would substitute the Press Conference with the British format of the leader being questioned head to head by the leader of the opposition and visa versa. 8) Again your solution #6 is in direct violation of the Constitution and remove the Court from any accountability to the citizenry. A better solution would be to only allow the appointment of Justices who follow the original intent of the Constitution and its writers, not Justices who make the Constitution bend to their personal preferences. A middle ground solution would be to limit the term of a justice to 12 years one time. 9) Make all losers in lawsuits pay the winners cost. Imagine the cost savings to the American public as hopeless lawsuits would disappear. 10) Enforce vigorously all current immigration laws. End chain migration. Redirect immigration policy back to that pre 1965 when we allowed People in who contributed to the US society rather than those suckled at the teat of the taxpayer.

Mark:

Oh, it’s you again!

“What a very lazy prescription for what ails America that has no chance of happening, here is a much better way to go:”

Why is it “lazy”? Name-calling without explanation is lazy indeed! You are the lazy one, not I!

“Eliminate all campaign contributions except those by individuals who are US citizens and allow them to contribute whatever they want with full disclosure being mandated. This is in line with the first amendment and eliminates all argument about what groups are good or bad.”

Using your Republican moneybags idea would confirm that silliness about “Money = Free Speech”. And what it has to do with the 1st Amendment is in your own mind and not based in fact. Do you know what the 1st Amendment actually says? Here’s a recap:

The First Amendment to the United States Constitution is the part of the United States Bill of Rights that expressly prohibits the United States Congress from making laws "respecting an establishment of religion" or that prohibit the free exercise of religion, infringe the freedom of speech, infringe the freedom of the press, limit the right to peaceably assemble, or limit the right to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Although the First Amendment only explicitly applies to the Congress, the Supreme Court has interpreted it as applying to the executive and judicial branches. Additionally, in the 20th century, the Supreme Court held that the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment applies the limitations of the First Amendment to each state, including any local government within a state. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitut ion

You’re being lazy again. What’s more, you’re wrong in thinking I would allow you to get away with that comment without pointing out what the 1st Amendment really does.

“Anybody can lobby but no lobbyist can give gifts, perks, campaign for,”

If they cannot do those things, then why would any congressman or congresswoman even give them the time of day! I find your ?thinking? as immature as your “non research”.

“or have served in the government in the previous or following five years.”

This is just an update on the “2 year” proposal. It would have some effect, but not much. In 5-years the deluge of former legislators would begin and each year thereafter. Do you ever think before you Comment!

“Your solution #1 is unconstitutional but if you can amend the Constitution go ahead.”

Nowhere in the Constitution are the words “Lobbying” or “Lobbyists” found. Those words and that concept did not exist when the Constitution was written. And there have been no “Lobbying” Amendments. You are WRONG AGAIN! I don’t know who you think is stupid because I certainly am not!

“Eliminate all Federal taxation except for a National Sales Tax with an initial stipend to anyone below the poverty to make up for the increased cost of their goods. This will increase tax revenues by $500B by taxing the "underground" economy and foreign tourists who today pay no tax, save $500B by eliminating the IRS, and save $500B in annual compliance / tax planning costs throughout the economy. The end result will be an explosion in job growth as companies relocate to the USA due to no corporate income tax, increased savings and investment will result in sustainable economic growth, and most importantly get taxation out of the hands of politicians of all stripes.”

You are attempting to sneak one by us – The “FairTax”! That is just a REGRESSIVE SALES TAX, which hurts poor and middleclass people, double-dips into the savings of retired people, who have already been taxed once, etc. I refer you to just one of my Posts on that ABOMINATION already:

http://tabacco.blog-city.com/call_to_repeal_regressive_taxes_state_national _sales_taxes_i_1.htm

“Your solution number 3 is in direct violation of the Constitution and tramples the intent of the Founding fathers in a limited Federal government. Anything in the Federal government is going to be subject to politics by definition.”

“Gerrymandering” is ALSO NOT IN THE CONSTITUTION! Where is the “Gerrymandering” Amendment – I missed it? You caught me on a good night with little to do. Normally, I throw CRAP like yours in File 86 where it belongs. But I’ve decided to act as your schoolteacher since you obviously never attended any school.

“Who picks the Watch Dogs ?”

I have to leave something for others to do.

“Who watches the Watch Dogs ?”

That is a CIRCULAR ARGUMENT! “Then who watches the watchers who watch the watchers who watch the watchers?” – Isn’t that how it goes!

“A much better solution would be term limits- 6 terms in the House and 2 terms in the Senate. The benefits are self evident.”

The benefits are NOT self-evident to me! Term Limits are a PACIFIER, not a SOLUTION. Then of course Michael Bloomberg comes along and invalidates TERM LIMITS! Sorry, Mark Lazy, you failed again. I hope you do not blog! We can all see your “Commenting” abilities are beneath pitiful!

“I actually agree with your solution #5, but I would go even further as the Federal bureaucracy has been depriving citizens of their liberty and rights without even getting elected. I would sunset all Federal agencies so that they would have to justify their existence periodically.”

“I actually agree with your solution #5”: That’s the smartest thing you’ve said yet! As to “sunsetting” all Federal agencies”, I don’t think that would go over with Agrigulture, Commerce, Defense, Education, Energy, Health & Human Services, Homeland Security, Housing & Urban Development, Interior, Labor, Transportation, Treasury, Veterans or State. Sounds to me as if you want to make the job of congress impossible. I have to assume that’s who would decide which ones are justified and which are not! I can just see Republicans getting rid of say Labor, Education, Health & Human Services, and Housing & Urban Development. I bet you’d like that, wouldn’t you!

I would also eliminate all Government unions as the public servants are supposed to serve the government not their union bosses.

Careful, your Right-wing, pro-Biz, Republican, Neoon, Capitalist leanings are showing!

“I would then introduce a performance based compensation system that actually encouraged and rewarded Public servants to serve their bosses the US taxpayer.”

I don’t blame you for being vague on that one. After reading and skewering your less-opaque initiatives, my skepticism on this one is totally understandable, wouldn’t you say!

“I agree with the problem of unproductive Presidential debates however I think your solution can be streamlined to the following; just let the candidates actually ask questions of and debate the other with the Parliamentarian of the House as a neutral moderator who just enforces the rules of debate without being allowed to ask questions.”

Just which candidate would pose to another candidate, “What should we do about Israeli nukes?” This has to be your dumbest idea yet!

“Surprisingly Obama has already made a joke of the Presidential press conference already also by relying on technology to produce his answers.”

As opposed to George W. Bush, who used a headset?

“I would substitute the Press Conference with the British format of the leader being questioned head to head by the leader of the opposition and visa versa.”

That would make interesting TV, but it would solve nothing – pissing contests never do! Being a “trivial American”, I’m sure your main concern is “good TV”.

“Again your solution #6 is in direct violation of the Constitution and remove the Court from any accountability to the citizenry.”

This is where you should have used that “unconstitutional” retort. You missed it, bud! The Supreme Court is a Constitutional point. When you walk, you should swim; when you swim, you should walk! Yes, an Amendment would certainly be required here. Since you omitted that comment where it actually belongs, Tabacco will do it for you.

A better solution would be to only allow the appointment of Justices who follow the original intent of the Constitution and its writers, not Justices who make the Constitution bend to their personal preferences.

And just who would make that decision – the GOP? Mike Huckabee? Sarah Palin? Give me a break! Every word you write comes right out of the REPUBLICAN PLAYBOOK! We are NOT BUYING!

“A middle ground solution would be to limit the term of a justice to 12 years one time.”

If Term Limits would not work for Politicians, why would it suffice for Political appointments like the High Court!

“Make all losers in lawsuits pay the winners cost. Imagine the cost savings to the American public as hopeless lawsuits would disappear.”

As would legitimate lawsuits!

“Enforce vigorously all current immigration laws. End chain migration. Redirect immigration policy back to that pre 1965 when we allowed People in who contributed to the US society rather than those suckled at the teat of the taxpayer.”

Again spoken like a Republican! I am against Amnesty myself, but you are just spouting bigotry and GOP propaganda. Why don’t you just go back to watching Fox News!

Well, it’s been fun, but I’ve had enough of you. When you read this, I’m sure you will have had enough of Tabacco too!

Each and every idea and sentence responded to and refuted – except the one line where Mark agrees with Tabacco. I’ll grant him that one.

Tabacco
