Obama to Address Immigration Overhaul
The Obama administration is planning to unveil new immigration proposals that will likely include a way for undocumented immigrants to receive legal status. The New York Times reports President Obama will speak publicly on immigration next month and convene working groups to craft legislation for as early as the fall.
Obama Establishes Office on Healthcare Reform
President Obama has formalized his establishment of an administration panel for reforming healthcare. In an executive order Wednesday, Obama established the White House Office of Health Reform. In the order, Obama said the US healthcare system suffers “serious and pervasive problems”. The Obama administration has come under criticism for its rejection of a single-payer universal healthcare system favored by a majority of Americans.
Maine Legislators Call for Single Payer
Meanwhile, in Maine, the state legislature has approved a measure calling for the establishment of single payer. The Maine Senate passed the non-binding resolution Wednesday, one day after its passage in the state House.

Tabacco: OK! You have the Basics; now let’s analyze the Specifics.
First we analyze AMNESTY again! I’ve published many Posts about Who and Why. Democrats and Republicans, George W. & John McCain, favor Amnesty. Republicans in general oppose it. That’s the Who.
Republicans oppose it because they see poor Hispanic Illegals as future Democratic voters if they gain Amnesty. Of course Republicans are correct in that assessment. That’s why almost all Republicans oppose Amnesty for Illegals.
Democrats also see poor Hispanic Illegals as future Democratic voters if they gain Amnesty. Of course Democrats are correct in that assessment. Democratic politicos may be self-serving and corrupt, but they AIN’T STUPID!
While Tabacco is a Democrat, Priorities force me to place ALL middleclass and poor current citizens and our jobs ahead of Foreign Illegals, who will take those jobs, despite the voting advantage. That’s the Obvious (there’s that word again) Reason Why.
But there is another, more Machiavellian “Why”, which takes Priority in the minds of Presidents, past (GWB), present (Obama) and denied (McCain). Presidents need large Militaries in order to effect Disaster Capitalist Wars. The US has not met a monthly military quota in years, thanks to Bush’s Iraq War.
“Tabacco, that’s quite a ‘stretch’”, you say? Well, let’s see! Let’s return to that failed legislation attempting “Comprehensive Immigration” under GWB. The Democratic-controlled congress attempted at least 3 times to fool us, but failed under Bush. Either type in the phrase “Dream Act” or go to the following URL for the most important Post, which reveals the “glossed over” intention of our upper echelon Leaders.

Excerpt:

The Disaster Capitalism-Military Complex Motive may not apply to Wal-Mart or Hispanic Organizations, but it certainly does to US presidents! Remember, you read it here FIRST! That’s the Most Important WHY!
Why do Politicians hide Single Payer in plain sight! If it were so awful, they would acknowledge it and let “nature take its course”. Since even President Obama refuses to acknowledge it (as he refuses to acknowledge Israeli Nuclear Weapons), there must be something about it they fear and abhor. Could it be that HR676 would remove Insurance Companies and HMOs from the Equation! You bet your booty that’s it!
Tom Daschle was going to pursue “Single Payer”, and Daschle was Obama’s premier nominee for Health & Human Services Secretary. Daschle’s “political assassination” was a message to President Obama: BACK OFF “SINGLE PAYER!” and will be discussed later in this Post. Never trust what the Mainstream Media tells you is the “Reason” for anything. There is always something, a lot more important, they don’t want you to know.
Next we analyze Universal Healthcare vs. Single Payer Universal Healthcare. The difference is MONUMENTAL although few of TV’s Talking Heads, almost none of our Legislators and certainly no Obama Regime Politico will address the difference. We analyze Who, What, How and, of course, Why.

Tabacco: There is the Fact I was waiting for! That’s why some powerful interests will fight hard against “Single Payer” once it becomes common knowledge and why your President, Barack Obama, pushes “Universal Healthcare” as T.I.N.A. Expanded Mission Statement
Health Insurance Reform… we’ve been talking about it for over fifty years now but the situation just keeps getting worse with each passing year. Premiums continue to increase and benefits continue to diminish as corporate profits continue to dominate as the primary objective. Even the new progressive administration in Washington D.C. proposes yet another convoluted hybrid plan that will do little if anything to relieve our health care system of the $660 Billion dollar annual burden of obscene corporate profits, grotesque CEO salaries and the administrative nightmare caused by the existence of over 1200 competing insurance company systems.
At the very same time, few Americans are aware that there is a bill in Congress RIGHT NOW that will change all that and actually create a single-payer national health insurance system for all in the United States simply by expanding and improving Medicare, one of the best and most efficient medical managements systems in the world. This new improved and expanded Medicare will cover everybody and everything including prescription drugs, dental care, nursing home care and much, much more at prices that we can all afford. There will be no more expensive co-pays or deductibles. Exclusions for pre-existing conditions will be a thing of the past. No American will ever again be forced into bankruptcy because of health care debt. The bill is called House Resolution (H.R.) 676. It's what we've all been waiting for and if we all join hands and get behind it, IT WILL PASS!
It’s great that so many organizations have sprung up over the past several years to support the cause of national health insurance for all but nevertheless it seems clear that in the face of the overwhelming power of the private health insurance industry that there is no moral argument powerful enough to loosen their grip on the system itself or on our political institutions that, for whatever reason choose to continue to support them. Accordingly, a real single-payer health care system can never become a reality in this country until tens of millions of Americans are somehow motivated to participate in this struggle. Meanwhile, even though H.R. 676 was first proposed back in 2003, almost nobody outside of a somewhat esoteric circle of politically minded people is remotely aware that it even exists. Stand on any street corner in any city or town in America and ask the first 100, 500, 1000 or even 10,000 people that walk by what they know about H.R. 676 and you will see what I mean. The silence will be deafening! This MUST change, and soon, if there is to be any hope of achieving the ultimate success!
That’s where we come in. Here at HR676.org, Inc., the Citizens Alliance for National Health Insurance, our sole purpose is to raise the funds necessary to finance an ongoing national media campaign to inform everyone in America that this bill exists and to make them aware of the tremendous benefits that it will bring to our people when it is finally passed. Now for sure, the big national health insurance corporations will do everything they can to prevent the passage of this bill. But we are confident that once the word gets out to the people about H. R. 676, a tidal wave of popular support will rise up that will all but guarantee its passage.
Of course there are many outstanding and excellent organizations working for this cause besides ours and they do a tremendous job in providing organizational efforts and informational resources to many, many thousands. We believe however that the job calls for reaching out to literally millions in a way that only professional media advertising can do and that is what WE are all about. If you agree with this assessment and you are committed to helping make this dream a reality, as are we, then please help or contribute to this effort by supporting HR676.org, Inc. in any way that you can.
Thanks so much for your help and support…
What Is Single-Payer National Health Insurance?
To begin with, it is NOT “Socialized Medicine”, far from it in fact. Also, it does not mean that our medical system will be taken over by the government and run like the post office as many of our opposition friends would mistakenly have you believe.
Basically, House Resolution (H.R.) 676, the “New Expanded Medicare” bill now in the House of Representatives simply creates a new and far more functional “single payer” method of collecting and distributing payments for medical services while leaving the medical system itself completely alone and intact. This will eliminate the hundreds of complicated and redundant payment plans currently imposed on the system by private “for profit” health insurance companies and save literally BILLIONS of dollars every year by eliminating such wasteful duplication. This will allow your doctors offices and hospitals to function much more efficiently and serve your needs much more effectively as well. Just imagine what a huge benefit this will be!
Taxes: We all know that nothing of any real value is ever free, but if you think of the taxes that will be required to support national health insurance as simply a lower cost alternative to the staggering private health insurance premiums that most of us already have to pay but which will be totally eliminated under the new system, then it becomes immediately clear that this could be a really good deal after all!
"Health care is a defining right in a democratic society." - Congressman Dennis Kucinich
Check out some of the tremendous benefits that the new Medicare will bring and see what you think:
* Every resident of the US will be covered from birth to death.
* No more pre-existing conditions to be excluded from coverage.
* No more expensive deductibles or co-pays.
* All prescription medications will be covered.
* All dental and eye care will be included.
* Mental health and substance abuse care will be fully covered. (1)
* Long term and nursing home services will be included.
* You will always choose your own doctors and hospitals.
* Costs of coverage will be assessed on a sliding scale basis.
* Tremendously simplified system of medical administration.
* Total portability – your coverage not tied to any job or location.
* Existing Medicare benefits for those over 65 will be vastly improved.
* No corporate bureaucrat will ever come between you and your Doctor to deny your care.
(1) The United States has the unhappy distinction of having the largest inmate to total population ratio of any modern country in the world. It is estimated that a full 53% of that inmate population is being confined due to non-violent drug and addiction related issues. The combined costs to society of maintaining such a huge prison population is staggering in so many ways and accordingly, the cost savings to society of this one enormous benefit of national health insurance alone, that all drug and addiction treatment will be covered, is simply beyond calculation.
"This is an issue that has no political boundaries;
it has moral boundaries." - Elizabeth Edwards
Congressional testimony May 8th, 2008
The real irony is that this new system will be a lot less expensive and provide much better services than the expensive, complicated, insane and dysfunctional system currently in place and still leave us with the best health care system in the entire world, only with the New Medicare… it will be even better!
Don’t be put off by all of the misleading and often inaccurate rhetoric that you so often hear about changing our system. For example uninformed critics will ask “Do you really want your medical decisions made by some government bureaucrat in Washington, DC?” Well, the truth is that with the new Medicare, just about every medical decision will be made privately by you and your doctor. But ironically, under the current system, many medical decisions about what’s best for you are now being made by some corporate bureaucrat working for a private insurance company whose main concern is making larger profits by denying your claims. How exactly does that work out to be better for you??
"Of all forms of inequality, injustice in health care is the most shocking and inhumane." - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
And don't be fooled and misled by those that will lie to you and try to scare you by making up stories about how terrible similar national health care systems are in other countries. They will tell you about long waits and denied services but when you actually talk to the citizens of these other countries you will find that the vast majority of them deny that any such problems actually exist and speak very highly of the care and treatment that they receive in their home countries. Certainly none of them would ever elect to change their country's system to ours!
Change is indeed often a very scary thing to most people, but when the need is so great and the proposed changes are so much better than the status quo, maybe changing to a single-payer national health insurance system in the USA is something that we can all think about supporting, whether you are a moderate, liberal or conservative, after giving it a lot of careful study and thought. Please call your congressperson and let them know what you think. They really need to hear from you on this issue.

What is…
The Citizens Alliance for National Health Insurance
HR676.org, Inc.
We are a not for profit group of concerned citizens working hard to spread the message about the tremendous health care benefits that all Americans will enjoy when we change to a single-payer national health insurance system. Here's the point. If you go up to a hundred people on the street and ask them if they know what H.R.676 is all about, how many of them do you think will know the answer? You say none? Well that's probably a pretty good guess.
Simply stated, our goal is to change all that by means of an on-going national multi-media (mostly radio and TV) advertising campaign. In short, we intend to make H.R. 676 a household word in every state, county, parish and district in this great country of ours confident in the fact that once the American people become aware of this bill and the tremendous benefits that it offers, a groundswell of popular support will rise up to demand its passage.
Because of the influence of the very wealthy and powerful private health insurance industry, our political representatives will NEVER pass true health insurance reform without overwhelming pressure from the American people to do so. Our purpose therefore is to help generate that pressure. The fact that most Americans are totally unaware of the existence of H.R. 676 underscores the tremendous need for a massive and ongoing nationwide multi-media advertising campaign to promote it more aggressively and encourage citizens to put pressure on their representatives in Congress to finally pass this bill. Our goal therefore, is to raise money to pay for that advertising, and other forms of various educational outreaches as well. Accordingly private donations are gratefully accepted.
People often ask, "I am only one person,
what can I possibly do to make a difference?"
If you are one of those people, then here is your answer...
Membership in HR676.org, Inc. is voluntarily assessed at $.99 cents per month per person and accepted in an annual donation of $10.98 (one month Free). Larger donations are, of course, gratefully accepted as well and will help to increase our momentum and effectiveness that much more, but all gifts of every size are deeply appreciated.
Consider this: We do not compete with all of the other groups working for National Health Insurance. They all provide invaluable sources of information and support. We just want to focus on implementing a solid plan of action to actually help make it a reality by funding a powerful and ongoing national advertising campaign to spread the word from coast to coast about the tremendous benefits that this program will provide for the American people. But it all starts with you, so please join today!
Please note: Companies that offer health insurance coverage as a benefit for their employees will themselves benefit greatly from the significantly lower costs of that same coverage under the New Medicare. Accordingly, commercial sponsorships of HR676.org, Inc. are greatly encouraged for the mutual benefit of all concerned.
If not us, then who? If not now, then when?

Tabacco: Capitalists will always do one thing above all others – PROTECT THEIR PROFITS!
AMNESTY FOR ILLEGALS
When it concerns Illegals, those companies such as Wal-Mart, IHOP and Home Depot always attempt to minimize their expenses as well as “optimize” their prices. Wages are Expenses! When you hire Illegals, you don’t have to pay benefits or even Minimum wage if you can get away with it. So Big Biz, Mexico, Hispanic lobbies, contractors, landscapers, mega-farmers etc. all profit from exploiting Illegals. However, if they are “legalized”, the benefits of their “Illegality” go “poouufff”! Hispanic lobbyists don’t seem to understand that.
So the real Beneficiaries of Amnesty will be the federal government with a 20-million peons base from which to select millions of Soldiers for 21st century American Imperialism! These dirt-poor Hispanics themselves will be still at the bottom of America’s Economic ladder or serving and dying in America’s Wars for Profit. A regular paycheck is nice to have, but is it worth dying for!
SINGLE PAYER UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE
When it concerns Universal Healthcare, Capitalists face a Life-and-Death Struggle for Profits! If Obama gets “Universal Healthcare” through, nothing changes re Insurance Company Profits. Workers’ Healthcare will be run totally by Insurance Companies and HMOs, whose concern is their Bottom Line, never your Health! And Medicare will still have that 20% that either you pay for directly, as Tabacco does, or get Private Insurance to cover it. And nobody knows which is the best or even better Plan. And changing Carriers can only be done once a year when you realize you picked the wrong Carrier.
But if the People could force through “SINGLE PAYER UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE” instead, the Insurance Companies would be wiped out of the Healthcare Equation. The government would be the sole administrator of the money, not HMOs! Nobody will make this distinction on TV. Those, who do make that distinction, are never allowed on TV. Remember, you read it here first!
So if Single Payer makes its way onto your TV set in spite of efforts by all the Capitalists to ignore it, there will be a
designed to SCARE THE BEEGEEBEES out of us about 6 months before you see a doctor, use of that scare term “@Socialized Medicine”, and other Lies, Exaggerations & Sophistries just to protect the Incomes of Insurance Companies and HMOs. Even the Nurses are for SINGLE PAYER!
Don’t fall for the PROPAGANDA! Nothing is perfect, least of all HMOs and Insurance Giants. But Single Payer, administered by your government, will be dedicated to you whereas the Current System and simple Universal Healthcare are dedicated to Profits for the Healthcare Capitalists. Which would you trust more?
@One Final Note: Yes, Single Payer Universal Healthcare is SOCIALIZED MEDICINE. Those are not “dirty” or 4-letter words. Even Single Payer’s Proponents are afraid to use the S-word!
SOCIALISM & SOCIALIZED MEDICINE have been negatively attacked and vilified so that Americans fear the word “SOCIALISM”. But nobody used that word in describing the Wall Street Bailout. Nobody at AIG used that word when they held out their hands.
Tabacco asks you,
@Proponents of HR676 are afraid to call HR676 “Socialized Medicine” because the Insurance Companies, HMOs and their Shills have made it a 4-letter word. But it is NOT a 4-letter word. For working and retired people, it is SALVATION! On this issue we MUST NOT leave it to President Obama. He is protecting the Insurance Companies, HMOs and himself on this one. The “Political Assassination” of Tom Daschle scared Obama into “Universal Healthcare” without “SINGLE PAYER”! You must NEVER TRUST any Politician ALL THE TIME!
When they say it’s “Socialism”, remind them that the Wall Street Bailout, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Free Public Education, Farm & Price Supports, Welfare, 3-Martini Lunch, IRS exclusions, Waivers and Dependents, Stimulus Package, and all the Constitutional Amendments are also SOCIALISM!
When they say it’s Socialized Medicine, ask them, “What’s wrong with ‘Socialized Medicine’?”
If they say you won’t get an appointment for 6 months, ask them what country they are talking about and then remind them we in America we do things differently from Canada or those other countries they just named.
When they say it’s Un-American, remind them of Slavery, Segregation, Witch Burning, Capital Punishment, Japanese Internment Camps in WWII which ignored Germans and Italians, Racial Profiling, Redlining, Trusts, Wars for Profit, Genocide in Iraq for “their own good”, Imperialism, Bush Regime’s Disaster Capitalism, discrimination against Gays, Women, Blacks, Abortion Doctors, American Indians etc etc. Socialized Medicine could not possibly be worse than those “American Institutions”.
Soon they will run out of disingenuous “Excuses”. When they do, tell them this, “You are either a paid or unpaid Lobbyist for Insurance Companies and HMOs or you are Stupid”. Either way, you are misinformed or a Liar! Now, get out of my face!
Tabacco: I consider myself both a funnel and a filter. I funnel information, not readily available on the Mass Media, which is ignored and/or suppressed. I filter out the irrelevancies and trivialities to save both the time and effort of my Readers and bring consternation to the enemies of Truth & Fairness! When you read Tabacco, if you don’t learn something NEW, I’ve wasted your time.
