Why SUPERDELEGATES! Instead Of Explaining Concept, DNC Allows Talking Heads Like Lou Dobbs To Castigate It As "Undemocratic" - Yeah, DNC Is Dumb NOT To Explain Raison D'Etre; - RI10 Op-Ed

Why

SUPERDELEGATES!

Instead Of

Explaining Concept,

DNC Allows

Talking Heads Like

Lou Dobbs To

Castigate It As

“Undemocratic” -

Yeah, DNC Is Dumb

NOT To Explain

Raison D’Etre; -

RI10 Op-Ed

The Democratic Party’s Superdelegates were NOT begun to decide between 2 strong candidates as we now have, it was done to decide among 3 or more strong candidates. Imagine John Edwards still in the race with a huge delegate total! Then imagine that Edwards were as pigheaded, selfish and greedy as the Clintons! Neither Hillary nor Edwards would budge. None of the 3 could win a majority of elected delegates. That would necessitate a Convention Back Room Compromise. Often those compromises become a 4th candidate, who did not even run in the Primaries because the original 3 block each other. The Superdelegates were designed to prevent that from happening. It would permit Superdelegates, as a group, to cast all their votes for 1 candidate, give that candidate a majority, and prevent a Convention Compromise.

As with all Good Ideas, there is a flaw. The flaw is that when you have only 2 strong candidates, the appearance will be that the Superdelegates provide a Backroom Solution. The Superdelegates will almost NEVER give the nomination to the 2nd candidate or the 3rd for that matter. That would be a Back Room Solution. The Superdelegates concept was meant to insure that the leading candidate gets a majority and that a Brokered Convention does not occur. Brokered Conventions are NEVER a good idea.

Instead of explaining their thinking and their intent, the DNC has kept quiet, which allows Sophistic Demagogues like Lou Dobbs to propagandize them and make the DNC appear incompetent. A very bad move!

With only 2 candidates left in the race and no Superdelegates, one candidate must win! The only way the Superdelegates could deny the will of the people is by giving the Nomination to the 2nd candidate, in this instance Hillary Clinton, which would create a guaranteed loss in the General Election. Hillary is trying to force the DNC to “CUT ITS OWN THROAT”!

The GOP of course does not need a Superdelegate concept because Republicans are like Sheep and will vote as they are told to vote!

Examples:
1 - The Conservative Right HATES John McCain with a passion, but has given up the fight so as to win against the Democrats in November.

2 - Realizing a Republican could not win the Senatorial contest in Connecticut last year, all but 10% of the Republican voters pulled the lever for former Democrat turned Independent after his Primary Defeat, Joe Lieberman. The Republican candidate got 4% of the total vote. Can you imagine any Republican in any of the 50 States getting only 4% of the vote? I can’t!

MEMO TO THE DNC

If you cannot or will not do it yourselves, at least promote this Post to Democrats around the country so that the demagoguery of Lou Dobbs and Fox will not go unchallenged!

PS I owe the genesis of this Post idea to a comment I received from The Capt @Blog-City. You got me to thinking! Thanks, Capt!
